How Do I Permanently Get Rid Of Blackheads On My Nose?

We all know that we really shouldn’t pick blackheads on our noses, but that doesn’t mean we won’t stop giving those pesky blemishes a heavy-handed squeeze. Yes, it can lead to enormous amounts of problems with your skin, but that never gets rid of the temptation.

So, with this in mind, we have gathered up helpful at home tips and tricks on how to get rid of blackheads on your nose.

Why do we get blackheads?

Blackheads are the result of the build-up of dirt, excess oil, bacteria and debris which clogs the pores then oxidises making the heads of the blemishes become black, hence the name, blackhead. They vary from other spots and whiteheads as the pore remain open and don't become blocked forming little pustules.

Blackheads are relevantly easy to get rid of and have a number of ways to treat and prevent them. The only thing you have to keep in mind is the fact that blackheads take about 20-40 days to reappear, meaning you won’t be able to permanently remove them, but will certainly be able to keep on top of your skin’s clarity.

How do I permanently get rid of blackheads on my nose?

As previously mentioned, the chances of permanently getting rid of blackheads on your nose are slim, but you can ensure your nose is clear of blackheads a majority of the time. Here are some tried and tested ways of getting rid of blackheads on your nose.

  1. Use a clay face mask

Clay face masks are hugely benefiting for oily and blemish-prone skin types. They have the ability to draw out impurities from the pores that can lead to spots and blackheads. Try using a clay face mask once a week and you will see a noticeable difference with fewer blackheads and less oil produced. Don’t forget to cleanse the skin beforehand to remove any traces of makeup or bacteria and use a face scrub to exfoliate the skin to remove any build-up of dead skin cells that can prevent the clay mask from clearing out any blocked pores.

  1. Use an exfoliate on the skin

There are two options for you to choose when it comes to exfoliating the skin, physical exfoliants are face scrubs or tools that you have to physically work into the skin to slough away any build-up or debris from the skin surface. Chemical exfoliants come in liquid form and are more commonly known as AHAs and BHAs, these work by soaking cotton discs and swiping them across the face allowing the facial acids to dissolve the bonds holding dead skin cells to the face and buffing away any bacteria or debris. Whichever you decide on both will work at exfoliating away any build-up of dirt and other skin clogging concerns allowing your skin to remain clearer for longer.

  1. Try a retinoid

You have no doubt heard of or know about retinoids, though they do come with quite a large list of dos and don’ts they are still clinically proven to be the most effective at clearing any blemishes and calming blemish-prone skin by accelerating the skin’s exfoliation. To find out more about retinoids you can check out our blog post about the skincare benefits of retinol and how to use them. You will really notice an astonishing difference in your skin after persistently using retinol for up to 12 weeks.

  1. Book in for a professional extraction or facial

If the previously mentioned methods are a little too time consuming for you then the best bet is to book a professional treatment, be it extraction or chemical peel.

With a professional treatment, you will have the peace of mind that the beauty therapist has extensive knowledge and undergone years of training and practise to know the best way to clear the clogs from the pores without causing any damage to the skin. In regards to the chemical peels, the facial acids used will be of medical level and are extremely potent meaning you will see results a lot quicker than using at-home products.

  1. Change up your routine and makeup

Avoiding products that contain oil or have a heavy, creamy texture when you are wanting to rid the nose of blackheads is not ideal. Those products will be too rich for the skin and will cause the pores to become clogged. Switch up your makeup and skincare products to lightweight and oil-free to give your skin the care and coverage you are after without any unwanted breakouts.

There you have five examples of simple treatments and methods you can try to get rid of blackheads on your nose, you’ll be happily surprised to see how effective these will be at ridding your skin of blackheads and keeping your complexion clear.

Why do I have so many blackheads on my nose?

Believe it or not, the nose has the most glands on the face and so you will find there is more oil leading to the nose featuring a majority of your blackheads. This cannot be helped and even dry skin types will find their nose is the oiliest part of the face. You will also find that the nose is often forgotten about when it comes to cleansing the skin or using any form of physical or chemical exfoliant, which is unfortunate as due to the shape and contour of the nose there are many nooks and crannies that will result in oil and bacteria gathering in these areas and causing blackheads and other blemishes.

Should I remove blackheads from my nose?

This really boils down to what you personally want to do. It is quite easy to forget you have blackheads on your nose throughout the day. I would suggest ensuring you at attempt to remove them at least once as clogged pores can lead to cysts which can double in size and cause a lot of problems that will need medical attention. This may sound like a lot of hard work, however, if you maintain a great skincare routine that helps to exfoliate and cleanse the skin keeping the complexion clear and pores unclogged, you may find you remove blackheads without really realising.

Do blackheads go away on their own?

Much like some spots, blackheads can be quite persistent and if left to go away on their own can take months or even years to go. You can always give them a helping hand with the methods we shared with you earlier and you will have clear skin in no time!

Although I may have burst your bubble slightly by sharing that permanently removing blackheads on your nose is a rather unachievable task, you will find that your skincare routine will have an important role to play when it comes to swiftly removing any blackheads and keeping on top of your skin and helping it to remain flawless.
